Ministry Goals and Strategies |
General Assistance and Discipleship: We seek to instil Christian values and give practical assistance through our Wednesday night outreach. This started with 4 or 5 street kids and has grown to typically 80 to 120 street kids and older homeless each week. We offer a variety of practical services, such as:
- job search information
- referrals to drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs
- GED referrals
- obtaining Texas I.D.s
- birth certificates
- blanket distribution
- clothing distribution
- pregnancy test distribution
- diapers, wipes and formula provision
- other baby item provision
- transportation
- help with family reconciliation [if possible]
In addition we have a Friday night outreach where we walk the streets sharing the love of Jesus and offering practical help to the people we meet. We also receive numerous phone calls requesting many different kinds of assistance. We offer what help we can, with one caveat – we won't contribute to enabling the street people to stay in the dangerous situations in which they put themselves.
Numerous local churches/ministries are assisting in this outreach. Some participate by providing meals on Wednesday nights, and others assist through volunteering. Among these churches/ministries are:
- Hosanna Fellowship
- Sombody Cares Houston
- The Foundry United Methodist
- Spring Valley Fellowship
- Tallowood Baptist
- Lakewood Church
- First Church of the Nazarene
- Garden Oaks Baptist
- Family Life Christian Center
- Faithbridge United Methodist
- Champion Forest Baptist
- Powerhouse Christian Center
- Chapelwood United Methodist/St. Francis Episcopal School
- New Wine Christian Baytown
- Mighty Redeemer Ministries
- Focus Church
- Church of New Beginnings
- Rock of Ages
- Hope Covenant
- WillowBrook Church
- Woodsedge Comunity Church

Parenting Assistance:
YWAM's Little Footprints assists the young women who become pregnant and are in need of practical assistance in caring for their babies, (both during their pregnancies and afterward). They have referred some of these young women to Christian maternity homes such as YWAM’s unwed mother’s home, Father Heart. Although the primary goal is to give the mother the assistance and help needed to raise her children, she sometimes chooses to give the baby up for adoption.
YWAM Tyler’s Loving Alternative Adoption Agency assists YWAM Houston with the street children adoptions. Loving Alternative becomes the safety net for these children.
